In “The K Chronicles”, graphic artist Keith Knight pays tribute to Howard Zinn.
Like me, Knight was “profoundly changed” after reading Zinn’s landmark A People’s History of the United States for the first time (why didn’t anyone teach us this book in Council Bluffs, Iowa?).
As the socially-conscious artist writes:
Up til then, every U.S. history book I read made slavery and Jim Crow sound mildly flawed at worst, warm and fuzzy at best.
Take a look at Knight’s touching ode to a man and his book that changed hundreds of American lives. Rest in peace, Mr. Zinn.
